Misery play straightforward, in your face metal. They have some hardcore and old school influences, and infuse plenty of melody amongst the aggression. Most of the songs on Fifteen Years Of Aggression follow the same basic formula of groovy guitars, a medium to medium fast tempo and intense vocals.
There are a few surprises on the album. "I'm Inside" has some really catchy parts and some melodic singing. Their regular style is more effective, but it's a nice change of pace. "My Time" is one of the more intense tracks on the record. It's really heavy, and John LoCasto's adds some ominous low pitched growls to his yelling style vocals.
There aren't a lot of bells and whistles on Fifteen Years Of Aggression. Misery cranks it up, kicks ass, and leaves in a cloud of dust. It's a direct and forceful slab of metal, and it's appropriate the word aggression is in the title, because it's an accurate description of the band's music and attitude.
