Mudvayne History

By , About.com Guide

Early Days:

Mudvayne formed in Peoria,Illinois in 1996. Instead of their real names, they used the pseudonyms Kud, Gurrg, sPaG and Ryknow. The band also wore makeup on stage to mask their identities. After recording a demo in 1997 they were signed to Epic Records.

Debut:

Mudvayne's debut was 2000's L.D. 50. The group drew some comparison to Slipknot because of the makeup and nu-metal style music. They also toured with Slipknot in 2000. In 2001 Mudvayne re-released their '97 demo as The Beginning Of All Things To End.

New Identities:

Later in 2001 Mudvayne released an album of new material, The End Of All Things To Come. They adopted new space alien personas, and along with that came the new pseudonyms Chud, Guug, R-uD and Spug.

Unmasked:

For their 2005 album Lost And Found, Mudvayne ditched the makeup and also the fake nicknames. They are now using their real names: Chad Gray, Matt McDonough, Gregg Tribbett and Ryan Martinie.

Chad Gray - (Vocals)
