Guide Review - Drawn And Quartered - Hail Infernal Darkness

Between their name, the album title, song titles like "Genocide Advocacy" and the CD artwork, you come into this expecting nothing less than immense brutality, and Drawn and Quartered delivers that in spades.

I like the way the band constructs their songs. They'll pummel you mercilessly with crushing riffs, breakneck drumming and roaring, evil vocals. Then there will be a melodic instrumental break so you can catch your breath, and then the pummeling begins over again.

Drawn And Quartered's music is violent and uncompromising while still having strong musicianship and glimpses of melody. And like all good black or brutal death metal albums, after you've listened to the whole thing you feel a bit unsettled.
