Guide Review - Falkenbach - Heralding: The Fireblade

This was supposed to be Falkenbach's debut album several years ago, but the songs were never finished. Falkenbach frontman Vratyas Vakyas finished, polished and recorded the songs and this is the result.

Falkenbach's style of music is folk metal or Viking metal with black metal influences. About half the songs are faster Viking metal with black metal raspy vocals. The other half are slower, more orchestrated folk metal with melodic vocals. It's a nice juxtapositioning of cold and intense electric guitars with warmer, acoustic guitars and strings.

One thing that it consistent is the melody. All the songs are melodic with catchy hooks. They do an equally good job on the more laid back songs and the darker, faster tracks. If you're a fan of black folk metal in the vein of Bathory, definitely check this one out.
