Guide Review - Hurtlocker - Fear In A Handful Of Dust

Napalm Records is known for European black metal type bands, but they have signed their first American band, and it's a good one. Chicago's Hurtlocker delivers a crushing dose of metal on their debut album.

Their music is in your face heavy metal that has influences of both Bay Area thrash and European metal. The songs keep coming at you with angry lyrics and terrific riffs from guitarist Tim Moe.

Grant Belcher's vocals are fierce and intense, but still understandable. Even though Hurtlocker borrows from many different styles, they avoid the generic metal cliches. Hurtlocker are both unique enough and technically skilled enough to attract a lot of attention.
