Guide Review - Iron Maiden - Death On The Road

Iron Maiden has released a bunch of live albums over the years, but there's a good reason for that. Their epic style translates well to a live setting, and they have the musical ability to pull it off. Frontman Bruce Dickinson, although getting up there in age, still has the drive and enthusiasm and connects well with the audience.

They do a good job with the setlist, mixing in some new material with classics like "Run To The Hills" and "The Number Of The Beast." The production quality is also good. You can easily hear the audience cheering and sometimes singing along, but it doesn't detract or overshadow the music.

Another thing that makes Iron Maiden stand out in a live situation is the fact that they have 3 guitarists. Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers create a wall of sound and there are plenty of solos.

Even if you already own the other seventy three thousand Iron Maiden live albums, this is a worthwhile addition to your collection.
