Guide Review - Ozzfest 10th Anniversary DVD

For ten years Ozzfest has been a metal institution. Every summer they travel across the country bringing metal to the masses. They showcase both well-known and up and coming bands. Ozzfest is one of the best ways for metal bands to get exposure in front of thousands of people at each stop along the tour.

The contents of the DVD are great. It's what isn't included that makes it not as good as it could have been. There are a ton of band interviews and behind the scenes footage that shows how an operation as large as Ozzfest functions. It's very interesting stuff.

The band performances are also very good in terms of audio and video quality. There are 3 Black Sabbath songs included on the DVD, along with performances by Velvet Revolver, Rob Zombie, Anthrax, Trivium, Soilwork and others.

The DVD would have been much better if they would have included performances by some of the other groups that were on Ozzfest 2005 such as Shadows Fall, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage, Black Dahlia Murder, Iron Maiden, Black Label Society and a few others.

Also included in the package is an audio CD that contains all the performances that are on the DVD, 14 in all. Even with the lack of some performers I would definitely recommend buying this DVD. You'll get almost 3 hours of footage along with a bonus CD for less than 20 bucks. That's about what you'd pay for a hot dog and bottle of water at Ozzfest.
