Guide Review - Saxon - Dogs Of War

The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band Saxon is very prolific. They've released a new album almost every year since 1979. Their best stuff was in the early '80s, and their recent albums have also been very good.

Dogs Of War was originally released in 1995 and was one of their strongest '90s releases. They stripped it back to the basics with straight ahead melodic metal. It's also a little heavier than some of the preceding albums. Saxon never had a lot of chart success in the U.S., but their music is just as catchy as a lot of those hair metal bands that were successful in that era. The title track on this album is really good, and "Demolition Alley" is also an outstanding song.

As far as new content, there are 2 live tracks that were recorded back in 1995 during the album's original tour. There are also new liner notes by singer Biff Byford and some new photos.
