Guide Review - Scarlet- This Was Always Meant To Fall Apart

Metalcore is a very crowded genre these days, and it's difficult to differentiate from the masses. Scarlet gives it their best effort and in many ways succeeds. One of the things that makes them a little different is their use of electronic/synthesizer sounds. It's not experimental or progressive sounding, but even something as small as a little electronic riff can stand out.

One thing that really stands out is the drumming of Andreas Magnusson. Since he co-produced the record he may have made the drum sounds louder than usual, but it really sounds good. The vocals are angry hardcore screaming combined with melodic vocals.

The band had a lot of time in the studio and was able to take their time writing the songs. It shows. They are more complex and use a lot more varied influences than some of their previous albums. It's a definite step forward for Scarlet.
