From the article: Best Heavy Metal Albums Of 1986
What is your favorite heavy metal album released in 1986? Is Metallica the best? What's missing from the list? Which album is the best?
Doom?
- St. Vitus "Born Too Late", a doom classic born 1986.

the greatest year of heavy metal music.
- Four of my favorite albums and four of definitive thrash metal albums. Cheers Chad, from a brazilian fan! ;)

superb year!
- really brilliant year for metal! all top notch albums. and i agree with john, iron maiden should have been higher than kreator. i guess not only musicmanship but also production quality must play a decisive role in rating of the top 10.

Thrash ruled
- Reign in Puppet Peace. No Anthrax that year, they released in '85 and '87. Slayer ruled that year along with Metallica and Megadeth. Too bad that was Metallica's last album that came from the soul, even with Newstead's arrival they couldn't keep it raw and in the spirit of thrash.

I second the Dark Angel
- Dark Angel should have been on this list. No doubt about it. Once again, no Manilla Road :0

my opinion
- somewhere in time should definetely be higher than pleasure to kill, that is one of Maiden's best album, also Peace Sells should be higher 2nd, and Reign in Blood 3rd.

Peak of 80s Underground Metal
- I would swap Megadeth out of the top three and make Fates Warning 1a, Reign in Blood 1b and Master 1c (no 'tallica diss intended it was my first Metal Album, just my true feeling). Peace Sells is like a Tier 1.5 alternative for Master; Heir Apparent and Rage for Order for Awaken The Guardian; and Pleasure To Kill and Darkness Descents for Reign in Blood - to be precise : ) then there's King Diamond, Flotsam & Jetsam, one of Motörhead's best, Toni Iommi, ok, but hey, you gotta like Slippery When Wet and Vinnie . So Chad - you better make this one a Top 25... pleaze!

1980>1986!
- Very, very good year for metal, but JUST below 1980 in my book for greatest year for metal releases. Granted RIB, MOP and PS...BWB are genre classics, but rarely are the rest of the Lps on this list (fantastic as they are) held in the same regard as Back In Black, British Steel, Ace Of Spades, Heaven And hell, Blizzard Of Ozz and Maiden's debut.

Dark Angel?
- Dark Angel is a highly overlooked thrash metal band, and they're 1986 release "Darkness Descends" should have made the list

Missing
- Very strong year, would have included Metal Church 'The Dark' somewhere in there.
